Unit leaders,

It has been gratifying to see the goodly number of items about our troops and packs that have appeared in the Cecil Whig during the past year. The articles have range from bread-and-butter coverage of unit activities to some very impressive and often moving front page items. Scouting has a true friend in the Whig.

Congratulations and thank you for your successes in keeping Scouting in the public eye.

I would remind you there is a publicity award your unit can earn; the Media Award. All you need to do is fill out the form (attached), and include clippings or photocopies of six, and often fewer items from a newspaper, community newsletter, text of a radio or TV public service announcement, or other publicity you have gotten for your unit. There are no restrictions on the time covered.

Send the packet to the council and you will promptly receive your banner and a letter of acknowledgement.

The Media Award is a nice thing to present at a pack meeting or a Blue and Gold Banquet, or at a troop Court of Honor.
